The Vatican Pretends Holiness

I think Rome sees an opportunity. The Roman Catholic Church understands humanity. There is increasingly a craving for a strong, unwavering stand on morality and, I believe, we will see the Roman Church do as it has done for centuries: readily adapt to the populist crave in order to be the “voice of God” for countless of thoughtless people who are really only hearing what they want to hear. Thus, I suspect, we will see more and more articles like this in the future. The Roman Catholic Church would have us to believe that it is a champion of morality.

William Cunningham, a professor of Church History in the 1800s whose work is still in print today made an observation that is still relevant today:

The Church of Rome is, in all its features, flatly opposed to the representations given us in Scripture of the apostolic church; and no branch of the church has ever done so little, in proportion to its means and opportunities, to produce holiness, or done so much to corrupt the standard of the morals, to eradicate a sense of moral responsibility, and to open the floodgates of all iniquity.
