Revival Tonight on ABC!
Revival! Tonight!
On December 8, 2007 on this blog I wrote:
Oh, pray, pray, pray! Brothers and Sisters, we may endure until May 16, 2008 if we can only persevere with the re-runs until then. Be of good cheer! Millions of dollars are even at this very moment being invested in “Christian-friendly” movies that will deliver on their promise to entertain everyone and deliver the gospel in such a way that no one even knows they are getting it. Yes! This is the victory we long for: a non-confrontational one-upping of the secular left with the hated Gospel message packaged in such a way that they don’t even recognize they swallowed it! Truly, as one great movie has declared, “a little bit of sugar makes the medicine go down!”
Never did I realize that there would be a strong Christian influence on one of America’s favorite shows. And it is happening tonight! Yes, brothers and sisters, Derek Webb of Caedmon’s Call will be “carrying the emotional weight” of Grey’s Anatomy tonight. Webb says,
“It’s an honor to be asked to help carry some of the emotional weight of a powerhouse show like Grey’s. I think the spiritual significance of a song like “Ten Thousand Angels” will have some really special chemistry with what is bound to be an important episode in the season.”
Wow! There is going to be “special chemistry” with Grey’s Anatomy! Clearly the Spirit of God is moving in our land. I’ve not watched a single episode of Grey’s Anatomy and don’t intend to even though there seems to be an amazing revival going on. Call me Doubting Thomas. I struggle to believe that a miracle has taken place even though the websites for McCracken, Webb, and Caedmon’s Call gush that ABC actually had to edit an extra minute in order to play out the entire song! Somebody pinch me. I do believe the Millennium is upon us.
Brothers and Sisters, rejoice with me over the “spiritual significance” of these words:
how long you have traveled in darkness weeping
no rest in language, no words to speak
but there in the wreckage beneath bricks and bindings
love has come, love has come for you
against the night sky of your waiting
your face is like starlight when he walks in
everything worth keeping comes through dying
love has come, love has come for you
so lift up your heart now, to this unfolding
all that has been broken will be restored
here runs deep waters for all who are thirsty
love has come, love has come for you
ten thousand angels will light your pathway
until the day breaks fully in the East
they will surround you and make your way straight
love has come, love has come for you
love has come, love has come for you
And Derek Webb is going to be at the church that was my home church for the first 15 years of my life on February 2008! I feel so connected.
