Thoughtful Critique of Shepherds’ Conference Preaching

Joe Fleener gives, I think, an accurate critique/analysis of the Shepherds’ Conference preaching this year. I had a great time, but I think that an honest evaluation from my part would be that if the last two years were par, this conference was sub-par.

Joe Fleener loves Grace Community Church even as I do so his criticism is even more valuable. In my mind Steve Lawson was by far the most effective speaker, but I do agree with Fleener’s evaluation of Steve’s message. I sort of took it for granted that Steve was using Peter’s message as an illustration. In fact, I think he actually said that, but Fleener is right, I think, to say that the first, truly exetical message of the week was delivered by Ligon Duncan.

I have to say that even though C.J. Mahaney is not my favorite speaker, and though at times in his “talk” I was almost bored because I have heard him say what he said several times, it was that message that God used to prick my own soul and conscience about matters I needed to deal with in my own life.
