As for the attribution to Grover Cleveland, perhaps he did use the quote, but I think Finney got there first.

I saw that at your site. I was just poking fun at my complete inability to catch on to a trend when it is still trendy.
The sad truth is that I posted the quote because I hadn’t posted anything for a while and didn’t have the time (or energy) to write anything substantive.
