World Cup Football

My favorite sporting event occurs only once every four years: the World Cup. I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had any opportunity to watch a game. Until today. But today, I’m vacationing in Minneapolis after speaking at Family Baptist Church yesterday for the Scott’s Commissioning Service. Now - at this very moment - I am suffering through ——

OH! NO! NO, NO, NO, NO!

Just as I was going to say that the US Team is being spanked, taken to the woodshed, humiliated (even though our beloved President told the coach just prior to the game to “give them h—-“), and being reminded that they still have years to go before they are capable of playing consistently with a real football, the Czechs hammer in the THIRD goal.

Does anybody know what this means?

This means that the USA’s team now has virtually no hope of getting into the next round even though they still have two more games to play in pool play. Unless they work miracles, and the other teams in their pool play as nonchalantly as our team, we can kiss the 2006 World Cup goodbye.

The Americans don’t seem to understand that their opponents at a World Cup are nothing like their opponents in any of the games leading up to the competition. The stereotypical “Dumb American” who is completely clueless about culture is obvious in our USA Team. They simply were not prepared psychologically for what comes to the rest of the world naturally.

I’m not talking about game. The American game has come a long way. I’m talking about mentality. They simply don’t have it.

That was truly, abysmally, ridiculously, embarrassingly, repulsively, awful.

For a moment(a long moment), this soccer-loving-European-raised-girl was embarrassed to be an American.

Come on France boy, what do you expect! My main complaint about US soccer was so evident during that game. Everything is straight up and down, no movement between the lines. Now to root for a real team GO SPAIN!!!! Ok, now I’ll be humiliated when the lose tomorrow morning.

Can’t say I’m surprised about the result. Saturday’s game won’t be much better, I’m sure.
I agree with what you mention, regarding mentality. What’s sad is that if the US had won, most of the country wouldn’t have cared either way. So, I guess it’s just as well. Not sure what’s worse—losing and have nobody care, or winning and have nobody care…
I’m just glad Argentina won! :)
