Rights?
This is a good time to introduce you to my all time favorite black female blogger, La Shawn Barber. Ok, I admit that she is the only black female blogger that I regularly read (do I read any others?). But almost every time this lady comments on politics, I think to myself, If I were a good looking black woman, I’d say exactly that. (She is pretty. And most of the time she’s right.)
Speaking of right, what about the American sacred cow Rights? Recently, I was in a conversation with an individual who was contending for “homosexual rights.” I tried to convince the person that I was not against human rights for gays, but I was against rights for gays that infringed upon my rights. I wish I had read La Shawn’s comments on Walter Williams’s Op-Ed. But, of course, she hadn’t written it yet.
She picks up on Williams’s statement
The way our Constitution’s framers used the term, a right is something that exists simultaneously among people and imposes no obligation on another.and runs with it. (By the way, be sure to read Williams’s Bogus Rights.)
Read La Shawn. She is thinking well.
If you don’t want to read anything political, then read her testimony. About seven years ago, La Shawn became a sister in the family of God through new birth. Her testimony is a great read. Amazing grace.
Finally, if you are a blogger then you’ll be interested to know that La Shawn is a guru in the blogosphere. Of course, if you are a serious blogger, you already know that.
