Quote of the Week

“When extremists extract concessions from democracies on points of principle, either by blackmail or terror, democracies do not have long left,” Charlie Hebdo editor Philippe Val wrote. (source)

Charlie Hebdo is a leftist, satirical weekly. It’s current editor, Philippe Val, is known for, as the French say, his “hard tooth.” Most of the time he makes me angry. This time I applaud his defiance. He has published all 12 of the Muslim cartoons that are inciting Muslim riots. Interestingly enough, he has also included very derogatory cartoons of Christianity and Judaism in the same edition.

Has any one heard of Christian or Jewish riots taking place?

Thanks for that thought. I was thinking the same thing. Jews and Christians have been cartooned for years and I don’t recall any riots, not even during the holocaust (but according to some, that didn’t even take place!!)
