Blog Announcement

Hey! I’m weary of the bickering. Why beat a dead horse?

The controversy is not about The End of the Spear. It’s about a battle for sound and courageous thinking. This must be hashed out.

Pastor Chris Anderson, one of the one hundred pastors who signed Jason Janz’s letter to ETE (I did too, by the way) has entered the blogosphere with an outstanding rebuttal/response to Randy Alcorn’s article on the controversy. Welcome, Chris. And… way to make an entry!

Also, you must read Phil Johnson’s most recent article on the same topic. It is obvious that this elder from Grace Community Church thinks clearly because he agrees with me and has also drawn attention to my posts. Clearly, the man is a genius.
;-)

NOTE THE SMILEY FACE!!!!!!!

(For the rhetorically-challenged I inserted the smiley face which I hope tempers your immediate assumption that I am a self-promoting Phil Johnson sycophant. Any thorough research of me and my life will show that, though I border on a preparedness to drink koolaid with Phil Johnson, I do have my occasional flares of independency and eruptions of disagreement even with the Pyro himself.)

Phew! It’s getting tough to communicate these days….

Maybe Phil may wish to alert the FBI to the possibility he has a potential stalker. The warning signs are all there…bold face type, emoticons, all caps, waaaay too many exclamation points…clearly you are on the edge, Bob.

This is true. But you gotta wonder how much credibility a guy has defending the “firebomb” statement when he calls himself the “Pyromaniac.”

It seems to me that not many people are commenting on another point that Jason Janz raised in his article… that of the gospel being “dumbed down”. I have not seen the movie yet, but I would think that the “dumbing down” of the gospel would alarm more Christians. I have made the decision not to see the movie in the theater, and have yet to make a decision on whether I will see it on video. The story of Nate Saint is an awesome one, but can only be told with a complete and accurate portrayal of the gospel that he went to share.

I have read Jason Janz’s forthcoming article on the EOS’s dumbing down of the gospel. It is a powerful indictment of the film. I can’t wait for you all to read it.

are you really trying to convince people that gay people cant be christians ? how ridiculous ! stop picking on gay people. god doesnt make mistakes. accept it, and mind your own business, not theirs !

That really is an excellent essay. Thanks for the heads-up!

Scott, You really should read what God has to say on the subject. May I suggest you start in Leviticus? (BTW…I haven’t seen anyone picking on gay people here.)

Don’t you understand that by saying a gay person can’t be in a Christian movie you ARE picking on gay people? God didn’t write the bible. Maybe if you did a little outside reading you’d understand that. Unless you’ve had a personal discussion with God you don’t know what he wants or if he even exists.

lisa, i was criticising you people for picking on gay actors. gay people are christians too, in case you are so narrow minded that you have never met any, well guess what ? gay people even go to YOUR church, they just dont trust you enough to be open with you. The church i go to, welcomes all races, genders sexual orientations, and treats us all like gods children, which i believe is what jesus wants. and leviticus was condeming promiscuity and wasting seeds, not being gay.jesus would never HATE anyone for anything. why do you ??
